LIME ORCHARD

Los Angeles

project-2

For a meticulously restored and updated house designed by Robert Skinner, landscaping was re-imagined to add depth and dimension to a property in the Santa Monica Mountains. Elysian's approach was to extend the experience of the architecture outside and bring the landscaping inside, to activate the indoor-outdoor lifestyle inherent in the mid-century design ethos.

Embedded in a residential enclave surrounded by ecological preserves and sweeping views of the city below, the house is sheltered by mature pines, and palms. From inside the house, only their massive trunks are visible amid a profusion of foliage.

Glazed floor-to-ceiling walls wrap around an outdoor dining pergola that opens onto the minimalist swimming pool and deck. These are flanked by built-in seating, a fire pit, outdoor cooking area, and freestanding poolside bar tiled in a brilliant yellow hue.
