Herbert Kameon’s timeless design for the iconic hotel and pool overlooking the great expanse of Los Angeles became the perfect foil for the exotic desert and subtropical plants and trees that were engaged as co-conspirators in Elysian’s transformation of the wildly artificial environment The Standard is so famous for.

As understated as it is bold, Elysian’s color palette for the poolscape was tuned to the hues of sky and water, with brilliant azure deck turfing and the aqueous turquoise of the water echoed in the syncopated pattern of the ceramic tile around the inner rim of the pool. Sleek white pots extend the aesthetic of Kameon’s all-white architectural design, freestanding or arranged in clusters to create intimate outdoor spaces.

The looming, expressive silhouettes of Pindo Palm and Aloe ‘Hercules’ become an animated backdrop for the vibrant social atmosphere that reigns at the pool from daytime into the night.
